Most of us are aware of the five senses that have been bestowed upon us to interact with our surroundings, namely vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, right? But how many of you have ever considered which of these is the most valuable?
Sure, each of these senses is valuable in its own right, but vision is regarded as the most important of all, as it is used to perceive approximately 80% of all impressions.
So you now have a better understanding of why you should take your eye health much more seriously.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR EYES HEALTHY

1. DON'T FORGET TO PUT ON YOUR SUNGLASSES

Your eyes will be protected from the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation if you wear the correct sunglasses. Excessive UV exposure increases the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration.
Choose a pair that blocks UVA and UVB radiation by 99 percent to 100 percent.

2. REDUCE YOUR SCREEN TIME

Staring at a computer/phone screen for too long can harm your eyes as well as cause neck, back, and shoulder pain. Excessive computer/phone screen exposure can cause a variety of eye disorders, including:

  • Strain in the eyes
  • Eyes that are dry
  • Vision is blurry
  • Issues with long-distance focus

To keep your eyes safe, do the following:

  • Check that your glasses is up to date and suitable for viewing a computer/mobile screen.
  • Select a chair that is both comfortable and supportive. Make sure your feet are flat on the floor.
  • If your eyes become dry, blink more.
  • It's also a good idea to take 15-minute breaks every two hours and get out of your chair.

3. DON'T RUB YOUR EYES

Unfortunately, majority of people have the habit of rubbing their eyes every other minute. Many of them develop an irritating habit of rubbing their eyes, which is harmful to their vision. You should be aware that your hands are frequently covered in a variety of germs that can cause a variety of diseases and infections. So avoid rubbing your eyes as soon as possible.

4. DRINK MORE WATER

Water helps to keep the eyes lubricated. Lubrication is required to keep the eyes moist, remove bacteria, and remove dust and other small particles from the eyes.
Dehydration can be avoided by drinking plenty of water on a daily basis. Dehydration harms your eyes and organs, and if left untreated, it can result in brain damage, convulsions, and death. You must drink plenty of water on a daily basis to stay hydrated.

5. NUTRITION

Good eye health begins with what you eat. Omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zinc, and vitamins C and E may help you to protect from age-related vision problems such as macular degeneration and cataracts.
Eating a diet high in natural foods and low in refined sugars and processed foods can significantly improve your general physical health. This can lead to a stronger immune system, greater eye health, a lower risk of eye and vision diseases, and enhanced overall eyesight.
